Springfield Inn is nestled in a classic southern setting, with whitewashed fences and hundred-year-old pecan trees accenting the late-nineteenth century house. It features relaxing porches with old rocking chairs, intricate gingerbread work, clapboard siding, and a tin roof, which all provide a feel of yesteryear.

The Inn is located just south of historic Hertford, North Carolina at the intersection of US Highway 17 South (Ocean Highway) and Edenton Road Street. The property has been in the White family since it was purchased by John O. White in 1891, who was a Quaker from the Whiteston community in Perquimans County. The Inn, circa 1896, was recently renovated by John O. White's great-grandson and his wife, Joe and Mary White.
